I’m also listing this on “the other” platform at a lower price.*** Be sure to check out my other listings.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The listing includes:1) A 2003 Made-in-Japan Epiphone Elite/Elitist Series Riviera 6/VS semi-hollow body electric guitar, owned and stage played by Jeffrey Foskett, longtime member of The Beach Boys and often referred to as the band’s “Vice Principal.”2) Handwritten notes featuring four groups of bass lines or chord progressions, penned on the back of an official Grammy ballot invitation letter. The letter was sent to Jeffrey Foskett by Neil Portnow, then-President and CEO of the Recording Academy (the GRAMMYs). The guitar along with the note inside the case was obtained from Jeffrey Foskett’s estate. The second photo shows an eBay message I received from a close friend of Jeffrey Foskett, who is also a prominent figure and prefers to remain anonymous, after seeing the listing. In the message, he shares details about the first time the guitar was played publicly.The guitar has been lightly played and is in outstanding condition. Judging by the various travel tags on the case, it clearly accompanied Jeffrey Foskett on the road. Fortunately, the custom-made, high-end Calton case provided excellent protection throughout its travels. The guitar’s serial number (T3020XX, last two digits obscured for the privacy of the next owner) confirms it was crafted in 2003 at the renowned Terada Plant in Japan. It shows only minor signs of use, including light picking swirls and a few very minor scuffs. Fret wear is minimal, and the back of the neck is remarkably clean, with just a few pin-sized nicks in the finish (see photos for details). The headstock shows a few small dings and light scratches, also documented in the images. The truss rod cover has been replaced with one that reads “Custom,” adding a personalized touch to this exceptional instrument. Written on the back of the Grammy letter are four groups of chord progressions (or possibly bass lines, as no major or minor are indicated), along with a handwritten note that reads: “strings changed Jan 2018 played once Frankin’s house.” The second group “C# B A G#” closely matches the intro of "Lonely Sea," the fifth track on The Beach Boys’ Surfin’ U.S.A. album. The other three progressions remain unidentified and may point to unfinished or unreleased material, a fascinating mystery for any fan or collector. This guitar, owned and stage-played by Jeffrey Foskett, along with his handwritten musical notes on the back of a Grammy letter, makes for a truly unique piece of memorabilia, an absolute gem for any The Beach Boys fan.
