Sakai guitars (formerly Sakai Mokko Company LTD) is shrouded in mystery that only grows as memories fade and the guitars of the 1960s fade out of existence. Sakai guitars are often lumped under a generalized umbrella of all 1960s guitars that are colloquially calls “Teiscos”. Actually, there were over a dozen major guitar manufacturing companies scattered throughout Japan during the height of the 1960s electric guitar craze. Sakai used the same pickups and pickguards, the same tuners and bridges and tailpieces, as other major manufacturers, so sometimes unbranded Sakai guitars can easily be mis-identified. The Sakai factory was located in the Nagoya area and jumped into the electric guitar manufacturing fray right at the start of the sales boom in the early 1960s, suppling name brands such as Sears, Norma, Cameo, Audition, Decca, National as well as a dozen other brands with instruments, as well as producing it’s own branded “SAKAI” guitars, for distribution in the USA and Europe. By the mid 1970s the electric guitar boom was over and other larger companies like Kawai forced many of the smaller guitar manufacturing companies out of business. This guitar has been identified as a “RECCO” brand electric guitar.

THIS IS A VINTAGE 1960S ERA INSTRUMENT! PLEASE DON’T EXPECT IT TO SOUND LIKE, FEEL LIKE, OR PLAY LIKE THE 2022 SQUIER STRATOCASTER YOU TRIED OUT AT GUITAR CENTER!

It has been fully tested and is 100% functional. It will be tested again before it leaves this shop on it’s way to you. It has been “set up” (neck straightness adjusted fingerboard oil treated action set, pickup height optimized) to MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES (as LOW as possible). Please note: “setups” are not “one size fits all”. Your personal set up requirements might be different from mine, so, additional adjustments may be needed to suit your setup preferences. To protect the guitar from damage, the string tension will be relieved before shipping per Reverb.com requirements. You'll need to tune the guitar to pitch when it arrives. Let the instrument acclimate to your environment! Differences in altitude and temperature from my shop to your location have an effect on the instrument. Additionally, vibrations caused during days in a truck being shipped to you might loosen screws and bolts! This is a perfectly NORMAL occurrence during shipping! It doesn’t mean your instrument is DAMAGED! Because of all these factors, you will NOT be able to pull this instrument out of the shipping box and start playing it!

Also, for optimal sound and playing ease, I put a new set of strings on the guitar.
