Chances are that if you’re here looking you are already aware of the Carvin legacy and reputation for building incredibly beautiful high quality guitars.
This left handed DC127 embodies that legacy and reputation and puts it right in your left hand!
From top of the headstock down to the strap lock this guitar has a unique combination of appointments not found on a typical DC127.
The headstock itself features a 3x3 tuner set up as opposed to the standard in-line 6 style headstock. This is the headstock style that occurs naturally on the Carved Top model Carvin’s.
The headstock face has a flamed maple cap to match the guitar’s body. The Carvin logo was ordered black to tie in with all the black hardware on this guitar.
The Sperzel Locking tuners are black as well as all of the other hardware. The aesthetics of the ebony board, the natural Maple and the black hardware really does provide a clean and classy look.
The 24 fret Ebony fretboard was ordered without markers. There are side dot markers to be sure you can find your way up and down the register. The fretboard radius is 14”. There is some fret wear on the Stainless Steel fret wire but nothing that should interfere with any bends or normal playing. You can play for years yet without needing to get a luthier involved.
This DC127 sports two Carvin 22 pole pickups with black metal covers. They do show some rub wear in spots (as do the saddles). This guitar was also equipped with a phase switch to take the pickups in and out of phase.
The tremolo bridge is by Wilkinson. It has a thick trem block installed.
The body is made of solid walnut and has a beautiful flamed maple top. The neck is walnut as well. The only flaw I found on this guitar was a slight indention into the neck on the back side (photo available). The construction is neck through, providing for an intense amount of sustain. The guitar also received the fully rounded body edges making it just simply more comfortable to play. This beauty is finished in tung oil, offering a satin sheen that is impervious to dirt and moisture.
The guitar weighs in at 8 lbs 6.2 oz. It does come with the classic tweed over wood G&G deluxe case. Both keys are present and included. The Carvin badge is proudly displayed on the top of the case. This guitar will ship well packaged and insured.
Of course the biggest feature of this guitar is probably that it’s a lefty. I understand the struggle to provide for lefties as 2 of my 3 kids are south paws. Here Is a stunning looker with some unique appointments that just doesn’t come around in a lefty very often.
